"Row, row, row your boat, Gently down the stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, Life is but a dream."- Nursery RhymeMany of us sang these words during our childhood, without giving a real thought to their meaning.
Now, I'm asking you to pay attention to the words:
"Row, row, row your boat (yourself), gently down the stream (of life). Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream (to the awakened soul.)"
Yes, we may choose to see our lives right now, right here, as a "dream," where our challenges, concerns, fears, anger et al are but part of a very bad dream. By doing so, we can rise out of any challenges, moving to a higher plane, where we can see the truth, too, about ourselves: We are bigger than our problems, bigger than the "little" life we've created for ourselves.
"Your mind is your kingdom. It has no boundaries."
-Eric Butterworth, "In the Flow of Life."
This is truth, and we can test it simply by observing how we "create" good or bad experiences in our lives. Any "challenge," we're encountering today resulted in a belief that manifested from our consciousness.
Sometimes in life, things happen to us because they truly are happening for us to take another look at a situation and attempt to see another perspective. Our tendency, though, when something, seemingly untoward happens to us, like getting laid off of a job, a spouse asking for a divorce or cheating on us, a disappointment in or betrayal by a friend, is to start from the bottom. We panic and see only the worst in a situation.
As time wears on and the situation plays itself out, we begin to feel a "lifting," often of a heavy burden we've been carrying, sometimes for years. As more time passes, we get to know the "truth": the situation or person was holding us back from moving into a new, more productive way of life and living.
In order to move forward, sometimes, most times, we have got to let people, places and things go.
Yes, let them GO, as they are part of our past consciousness, our past.
If we can see this immediately, we are blessed by the newness of life that begins to unfold, as we open up and gratefully accept the new gifts that unfold for us as our consciousness expands to receive them. Without letting go and accepting the stream of life that is unfolding in our lives, exactly as it should, we cling to memories and things that no longer serve us. This traps us in servitude to a past consciousness that does us no good.
When seemingly bad things happen to us, if we are able to remove the emotional debris from our path, we can reach out to the ever-present wisdom within us and ask of it,"Where is it that you'd like to carry me now?" Then, let go, watch and follow.
Sometimes, the new path may take years to unfold, as we keep following and following and following, where there seems to be no end.
Thing is..that something is always happening along the way, as we "row, row, row your boat down the stream."
That "something" is a change in our consciousness and the way we view the world.
Until we are able to see the world with new eyes, we cannot enter into the new "kingdom" being prepared for you "down the stream."
The longer we take to wake up and open up to a new consciousness that is begging to be birthed within us, as we stubbornly cling to the past of people, places and things, the longer the rowing will take.
We simply have to learn to "Let go." When you've rowed enough and your arms are tired, let go of the oars and let the stream carry your boat. Trust! It wouldn't let you go under. Believe, this!
"Be Still and Know." Psalm 46:10
In the last post (July 1, 2012), I concluded that we are not God.
If we're not God, then who are we?
We are our consciousness!
This has been evident throughout our lives: whatever we think about, we create in our minds, thus create in our lives.
Within us, we have all that we need to navigate our way down the stream of life.
We have a body but in essence,* we are our minds, as we create our lives through this, our unseen essence.
Our mind is the great creator, because it is a derivative of Divine Mind (Universal Intelligence) from which all intelligence flows. We, the person we as conscious of being, then have to be very careful what information we feed into this reservoir, always is waiting to deliver results from thought deposits. We make good deposits: it delivers good results; we make bad deposits: it delivers bad results, without discrimination and without filtering.
Yes, indeed, we are what we think:
"Be ye not conformed to the world but be ye transformed by the renewal of your mind."
-Romans 12:2
"Be ye renewed by the transformation of your mind."
-Ephesians 4:23
Then the filter comes in: our Soul, our higher self. This knows all that is good or bad for us and always is waiting to guide us to steer right or left, as it also is a derivative of of the ONE Presence and Power in the Universe (Cosmic Consciousness).
Trouble comes in big bunches, when we, our conscious self, relying strictly on EGO, or our human minds or wills, don't know what to do so we can't PLUG into our Souls.
Big trouble.
"Be Still and Know." Psalm 46:10
We almost can tell the state of people's thoughts, words and deeds simply by looking at them, though truth is we have to get to know a person before we truly can know them. When we do, we can see that their lives (as well as ours) always reflect back the truth that they know and believe about themselves.
God/ Spirit, embedded in our Soul, cannot do anything for us what we do not allow it to do through us.
For many, the only time they are willing to give up and let go is when they hit rock bottom.
They then, release and go with the flow. Life begins to improve.
"It is not I, but the father within me, he doeth the work."
"Why callest thou me good, there is only one that is Good, that is God." Matthew 19:17
I'm convinced that our purpose on earth is to get closer and closer to expressing the Divinity within us. It is a life-long journey that never ends. It is massively challenging as our personalities occupy so much of our daily lives and "who" we identify with in the world.
Most of us are focused on our bodies, which actually can do nothing for us but reflect back into the world what thoughts, attitudes and beliefs we carry in our minds.
The real work of "rowing" is for us to pay attention to our lives by first paying attention to our thoughts.
"I think the one lesson I have learned is that there is no substitute for paying attention." — **Diane Sawyer.
This should be our foremost lesson, too, and what we put into our minds minute by minute.
