Leo Tolstoy on God

LEO TOLSTOY ON GOD: "When you look inside yourself, you see what is called 'your own self' or your soul. You cannot touch it or see it or understand it, but you know it is there. And this part of yourself--that which you cannot understand--is what is called God. God is both around us and inside of us--in our souls.

The more you understand that you are at one with God, the more you will understand that you are at one with all His worldly manifestations."

"We Are God" : Blasphemy or TRUTH?

UPDATED Editor's Note: Coming 7/22--"Power of Your Mind: Pay Attention!"

The day I tried to be God was a very bad day.

For several  weeks, I'd read many books that tell us we're "God in hiding."
I won't name any of those books, but if you read spiritual book  you won't have to look hard to find them.

I'd read several in the past that hinted we were God, but they weren't as bold in their declarations.
Then, one very popular  author had advanced in his theories and was out and out declaring in his most recent book that we are GOD.  From his book, I was led to many others of the same theme.

So, on my "GOD" day, I went about claiming my rights.

My thoughts raced: if I'm GOD then why is such and such happening... on and on and on....

As I drove,  I ran into traffic. I decided to see if I could declare all the other cars out of my way.

Nope. I couldn't do it.

Then as I exited my car, I thought that just for fun: I'd change the weather slightly...add just a little more breeze.

Nope. I couldn't do that either.

When I got where I was going, I decided not to be my normal self...and smile at people. This instinct you see, normally flows from my Soul. It is a spontaneous, gut reaction whenever I see someone else.

But I tried not to connect with my Soul that day.  After all, I'd created the Sun, Earth, Moon and Stars: I wanted God to simply BE God...no input from the Soul, through which I 'd previously believed was my "God" connection.

You see from what I could discern from these "God" authors, we simply had to elevate our thinking, get into the right consciousness (awareness), then connect at that higher elevation to become God.

Without a doubt, I'd done all the preparation:  I'd meditated and transcended as much as I could for about an hour before putting foot out of the bed that day.

Sadly, not smiling at people...not greeting people...through the filter of my Soul began to put me...GOD...into a very bad mood.

I just wasn't "feeling it."

All I did that day...on the phone...and everywhere I went...in all my interactions...I wasn't feeling the "love connection" to people, with people and for people, since I was not connecting to my within.

I simply was going about in the conscious awareness that I was God, and I was attempting to RE-create my world from that basis.

Without going into every detail of my day,  by the end: I felt depressed! This is a mood I had not felt for a long time...so accustomed was I to going within at the first hint of trouble.

I couldn't shake the sense of emptiness and depression. ( I thought: This is how many people operate who don't acknowledge the presence of God ..their Soul... within them. They FUNCTION...but ..)

I thought...if I'm supposed to be God, this was a terrible first day.

In a way, I wanted the God folks to be right...
I wanted to believe that we were changing the world each moment with our Conscious awareness...
I wanted to believe that the world as I was experiencing it and seeing it first-hand was an illusion...
I wanted to believe that when I died, the world would stop being "real."
As a matter of fact, damnit, I wanted to believe the world would simply stop when I stop ticking.
As I prepared to go to bed, without my nightly deep checking in with my Soul, I felt nothing but misery!

I decided to stop ...right then and there...

"I can't do this," I thought. "I can't go another SECOND without connection with my Soul."

I let out a long sigh, as I settled into my meditation.

Thing is...I know I became GOD then!

In an instant...I'd changed my world...from misery to ecstasy!

So, yes...I was God! I am God!

In an instant...I can change my thinking...change my experience...and change my world!

Wow!

The way I did it, though, was not through my human WILL, one of *12 powers given to man.

Though NOT an exact representation of my thinking, this gives some semblance of body, Mind, Soul

I did it by acknowledging there is a POWER greater than me that lives within me at all times.

"Your body conceals the God in you,"- Leo Tolstoy states in "Wise Thoughts for Everyday."

I've read enough of Tolstoy to know what he means and he's certainly not saying that we are God. Likewise with authors, like Cecilia Loving, in her book, "God is a Brown Girl, Too."

Where they differ from many of "We are God" folks is that the latter group is stating clearly that we are God. Period. They are not alluding to the Spirit of God within us i.e. The FORCE...the ENERGY.They believe that because we are co-creating our earthly experience, we also are creating the Universe as well! They do not even acknowledge that others on another planet may have differing "thoughts" and "wills," and since we're not part of those other planets, we can't fully participate in those "outer" experiences.

These authors suggest that we use our minds (intellect) to create the life we want on this earth.
What they forget is that there are many Souls walking this planet without a connection to their very minds.

So, the question: What are those "mindless" folks doing here on planet Earth, if they can't co-create their lives?

Aha...

What the "We are God" sayers also forget is that the planet Earth is tiny compared to others in the Universe. So by comparison, what we think we know is tiny compared to others living on "greater" planets. Yet "We Are God" sayers want us to believe that they have uncovered all the secrets...the mystery...of the Universe.

I don't know how so many smart people began to move to what they  boldly are stating today.

These folks truly  believe they are the only ones given the key to unlock the mystery of LIFE at this time and place when, for many centuries, others have tried unsuccessfully to do so.

I simply boil down this new thinking to arrogance and their EGOS. These folks seem to have a tremendous need to be heard above the many, many voices now trying to penetrate our consciousness that they...and only they...know the real truth about God!

Jesus warned about this:

"... strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." -Matthew 7:14

"Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but underneath are ravenous wolves. By their fruits you will know them."--Matthew 7:15-20

I have absolutely NO doubt that we are co-creating our world as we go along with a force greater than ourselves.  But there is so much more for us  to do before we can reconcile this with knowing that  **"I am GOD!"

Collective consciousness always is at work: we didn't want to do clothes and dishes by hand anymore: viola! We created washing machines and dishwashers. We wanted to hear each other in countries far and wide: we developed the radio, then the television when we wanted to see them, too. Today, many of us who also are witnesses to the creation of what our collective consciousness has done  to create "instant communiction" on planet Earth. We have seen new forms of communication evolve naturally, flowing almost seemingly from our very consciousness, as we think. We have seen walls crumble in the old Soviet Union, China and other places.  "We have not only been witnesses to all these happenings; we have been active participants through our  collective minds.

But the presumption of  the"We Are GOD" folks that they have solved the entire mystery of how, when, what and where we were created is beyond me.

I was reminded of the presumptuous attitude of this new crop of authors and would-be teachers and thought leaders when I recently saw the movie: Prometheus.

The movie is about a group of explorers who took a journey out of space,  looking for the creator of the Universe. I paraphrase the message left  by the protagonist in the end:

"This is the year 2094. Don't come here. Only death and destruction lie here, and you'll never find the answer," she said

Seeing the movie reminded me of the fate of  some well respected thought leaders, indeed "mystics," who had come before this recent crop.  The earlier ones, too, had spouted with strong conviction that "We Are God."

Those folks had relatively short lives on planet Earth, probably arousing the wrath of their own Souls within for straying so far from their original intent to do good, and only good.

This new crop of thought leaders needs a sanity check! We can't think ourselves into being "God!"

Often many of us can get the "sensation" of God as a Presence in our lives...but that, my friends, is when we fully connect with our Soul/Spirit!
"I rest in the assurance that God's grace is enough. I see the events of my life and the desires of my heart unfolding in perfect ways. Grace abounds in me, through me and all around me now."-Daily Word, Monday, June 25, 2012

This connection with Soul/Spirit, which is of the force or  energy of God in our lives, can lead to connection to Cosmic Consciousness (power of the universe). Those instances, however, are few and far in-between, most often surfacing in near-death experiences.

All of our lives, our Souls navigate our paths through life even when we are unaware of its presence. But to now be aware of its presence and out and out claim ownership of the world is a form of blasphemy!

By declaring "We are God," these new thought leaders are trying to force the power of our Soul forward and through us to laying stake not only to the world but the entire Universe.

I have no problem with these thought leaders motivating people to take control of their lives and claim their power, as children of God, infused with pure energy to create in their lives. But I have a huge problem with them offering no solutions through our "Godself"  to fix what we all can see is wrong with the world: injustice, crime, poverty, indignities, violations of rights, hate, envy, jealousy et al.

The way these writers make it seem is that if we wish it, all can be made well.
Yet, there are enough of us wanting a stop to the negative happenings in the world. Even with such a huge collective consciousness, it isn't happening...and has never happened over the millions of years mankind has  inhabited earth.

These "We Are God" sayers have got to accept that certain things are beyond our capacity to understand...that there is, indeed, a mystery in the universe.

We have got to stop trying to play God, simply because we've got a highly developed intellect and are exposed to marketing that allows us to promote our thinking to the masses.

They've got to see the responsibility they have to masses of people who may look up to them as leaders.

They have got to let God BE God in their lives, without claiming ownership of his power that works  in and through them.
"...the entire work of consciousness speaks  to a process by which we sculpt away the excess, all that we are not, finding and releasing the gesture of soul that is already waiting, complete, within us. Self-actualization is this process applied to our life on Earth. The many ways we suffer, both inwardly and outwardly, are the chisels of God freeing the thing of beauty that we have carried within since birth." -Mark Nepo, Book of Awakening, June 28.

There are those naysayers, too, who don't believe that God exists in our world or lives. That's okay... fully okay... because God IS and WILL continue to be God in their lives anyway.

The danger with the "We Are God" sayers is that they can create havoc for those who listen and are not discerning enough. Some true believer s  actually  may step out and also proclaim to the world,"I am God!"

I warn you: "Don't Go There! There's nothing there but depression and misery. I've tried it and there's no TRUTH to it."

Happy Independence Day: May you KNOW that  "the God" within you is your Soul and should be your ONLY guide and teacher to enlightenment!

**What do I personally believe about WHO we are?
I honestly believe that we are the reflection of our minds. I see our role as that  of the "middlemen" between the inner and outer "God, i.e. we are our minds, which many call our conscious self. This is the intercessor between the Soul that lives within us and Cosmic Consciousness.  The personalities people know by name, in my case, Che', are reflections of the state of our minds. So, if we're "out of our minds," that's what the world knows, sees and responds to as our essence.  However, our totality is encompassed in our body, which also contains our Soul with ability to link to the universal Soul or Cosmic Consciousness.

Dear Anonymous:
Thank you for taking the time to read through my "We Are God" piece.

I'd like to think I know what I'm talking about...I've studied metaphysics/spirituality for many years and have practiced it for just as many. After a period of true commitment, dedication & perseverance, you DO make the connection with Spirit & the God within. WARNING: You will go through a bit of "hell" to prove your sincerity...but...it's all "GO(O)d" and what is called the "purification" process. This process is never, ever completed...

Keep on keeping on in your study. Spirit knows when you're sincere in your search and will gently guide you. By grace, whatever challenges you encounter along the way will "all work together for your good." Romans 8:28.

FYI: I did check out your "Cheap Strollers" page. You're right...they are reasonably priced and the quality looks GREAT!

Have a great July 4th!

Namaste' & Peace Profound,
Che'
