Leo Tolstoy on God

LEO TOLSTOY ON GOD: "When you look inside yourself, you see what is called 'your own self' or your soul. You cannot touch it or see it or understand it, but you know it is there. And this part of yourself--that which you cannot understand--is what is called God. God is both around us and inside of us--in our souls.

The more you understand that you are at one with God, the more you will understand that you are at one with all His worldly manifestations."

Blessings for a New Life... As it Begins!

These are photos of my new niece, Senaya Leigh Miles. The photos were taken one day after her birth on April 10. Today, she is two weeks old. Posted by Che'

"Soon after her brother was born, little Sachi began to ask her parents to leave her alone with the new baby. They worried that like most four-year-olds, she might
feel jealous and want to hit or shake him, so they said no.

But Satchi showed no signs of jealousy. She treated the baby with kindness
and her pleas to be left alone with him became more urgent. They decided to allow it.

Elated, Satchi went into the baby’s room and shut the door, but it opened a crack—enough for her curious parents to peek in and listen. They saw Little Sachi walk quietly up to her baby brother, put her face close to his and say quietly,'Baby, tell me what God feels like. I’m starting to forget.'

Dan Millman reported this story in “Chicken Soup for the Soul.”

Exactly two weeks ago, on April 10, my niece and her husband had their second child, a girl, Senaya Leigh.

After several hours of labor, she entered into the world in less than three minutes. Shondelle, my niece, said she made two hard pushes, and the baby came out even before her obstetrician could get there.

Senaya Leigh wanted to be born. But I think her easy birth could be attributed to Shondelle’s being a personal trainer, helping others stay fit through exercise and dance at her studio in Florida.

On the night of April 10, I went to bed thinking of Senaya’s first day in the world...how strange it must all seem to her...looking into our world. All the faces...all the images...all the newness of Life.

What a journey she has ahead of her!

From those three minutes when she slipped into the world to a lifetime of uncovering and discovering this mystery we call life.

I know Senaya will have all the love and care she desires. She has that type of parents and grandparents, and she has an older brother by three years, Jasai, who couldn’t wait for her to be born. Jasai will cherish Senaya.

So we can expect a life fully without challenges for Senaya Leigh as she goes through this world?

Yes. If she chooses to remain in her little center, with her immediate family and a small circle of friends .

But what happens if she chooses to expand her world?

What happens if she chooses to bring “strangers” into her world?

What happens if she chooses to go beyond her Florida neighborhood, her community and meets people who think and act differently from her?

What happens then?

How can Shondelle and Ron prepare this precious child to enter into the larger world?

They will need to do it...step by step.

First... nurturing and loving and appreciating her essence.

Next... teaching of the right and wrong…according to the world’s standard of judgment.

Next... support for her discovering and uncovering of new things about the world on her own.

Then...realizing that she has grown...into herself.

The self she always was intended to be...when she first entered into this world on April 10.

Senaya is awakening to the world around her, day by day. She’s uncovering new things to delight in, new faces and people to enjoy.

Every day, Senaya is uncovering more and more “things” of the world.

Every day, Senaya is uncovering the gifts of Life!

Every day, Senaya is uncovering the precious gifts of God in Life!

Every day, Senaya is uncovering the glory of God in her Life!

May her life be blessed with at least a century’s worth of discoveries.

May it be blessed with many joys, new awakenings, new horizons.

May Senaya be blessed with a fullness of life that only can be given by God!*
